If you could re-live any meal you had this year, which one would it be? Where did you go? What did you order?
In Toronto, it would be Buca – bread knots to snack on, salumi platter to start, and finished with the Cicorilli white pizza: 8-hour braised calabrian pork on perfectly crispy, seasoned, thin-crust pizza dough.
If $5,000 magically appeared in your bank account and you only had 24 hours to blow it all, how would you spend it? Where would you go? What would you eat/buy?
Yorkville and Bloor St. W. to Stillwater Spa at the Park Hyatt hotel; afternoon tea at the Windsor Arms hotel; and a shopping spree at Williams-Sonoma first then Banana Republic if there’s money left.
What’s the one thing you bought this year that you’ve gotten the most mileage from? Where did you buy it?
Mountain Equipment Co-op – walked into the store, asked them for their warmest winter jacket and bought it without a second thought. I’ve never suffered from shivers in this jacket while waiting for the ever-delayed Spadina or Queen streetcars. They’ve also got these thick, arctic-grade socks that I like to wear at home.
If neither calories nor dollar bills mattered, where would you go for your last meal of 2010 and what would you order?
Kaiseki Yu-zen Hashimoto, extended 9-course tasting menu.
Out of all the places you’ve reviewed this year, which one do you wish could set up shop next door to your place?
Aroma Espresso – I could go for one of their mochas every morning.
