Michelle Epstein is the quintessential Flirty Girl. She’s energetic (and currently obsessed with Zumba dance classes), ambitious (she quit her Bay St. job a few years ago to start her own business) and can do a mean little chair striptease (despite the fact that she’s about six months pregnant). Epstein is one of a thriving posse of women in Toronto who are looking outside of the confines of a traditional gym environment to get fit. Step machines and treadmills are great, but how can they compare with cardio burning workouts like Pole Dancing and XXX Power Strip? That’s the thinking Epstein was counting on when she took a leading role in the opening of the King West Flirty Girl Studio back in 2005. It took a leap of faith and a partnership with the super fit Knee sisters (they’ve since opened another Flirty Girl in Chicago), but Epstein hasn’t looked back since.

OurFaves is a revolutionary new platform that allows people to share and discover the best of the city (starting with Toronto) according to their friends and the people whose opinions matter to them. OurFaves is a fully-funded start-up that is incubated in Torstar Digital, a leading interactive media company in Canada with high-profile properties like workopolis.com, thestar.com, and toronto.com.

We are looking for summer interns to assist with a variety of projects, including:

• creating great content and getting the word out about OurFaves
• editing local business listing address info and categories
• monitoring site activity and traffic, analyzing reports
• creating e-mail newsletters
• brainstorming marketing ideas
• helping to set up events
• other tasks depending on your skills/areas of interest

These positions are suited to students in media/communications, marketing, or library science who are friendly, social, and know the city’s hot spots.

We are looking for a Lead Web 2.0 Developer…

OurFaves is a revolutionary new platform that allows people to share and discover the best of the city (starting with Toronto) according to their friends and the people whose opinions matter to them. OurFaves is a fully-funded start-up that is incubated in Torstar Digital, a leading interactive media company in Canada with high-profile properties like workopolis.com, thestar.com, and toronto.com.

Recently launched in open beta, OurFaves is receiving great media attention and is experiencing tremendous growth. We are looking for a Lead Web 2.0 Developer to drive the development of new features & functionality as we take our site to the next level and expand across North America.

As a core member of the small start-up team, and reporting to the GM, you would be responsible for leading the technical development of OurFaves. You would initiate new features, architect and implement their solutions. A large part of this role involves integrating with other applications through third-party API’s.

Qualifications:

* BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent
* 3+ years experience developing interactive, dynamic, data-driven websites (experience with community-based websites a plus)
* In-depth knowledge of object-oriented and service-oriented architecture principles in n-tier architectures
* In-depth knowledge of Web 2.0 technologies and applications (AJAX, RSS, third-party APIs)
* Expert knowledge of C#, C++ / Java, DOM, Javascript, SQL server (or equivalent database technologies)
* Strong knowledge of XML, HTML, CSS, DHTML, server side scripting languages (e.g. ASP, PHP)
